[00:00:16] So I'm hiking a short loop trail at Timberdoodle Flats Eastern side of Allegheny National Forest There's a couple different trails here, the kind of main trail and the Bluebird Trail Bluebird Trail is really short, but I've left our recorder back there to see what I captured
[00:00:48] because there was a just outside of Warfler there Visible, but not singing, so maybe they'll sing There's a lot of red-eyed biros singing here Indigo Bunting, some chickadees vocalizing Opening up to a little small meadow prairie Little tall grass area, Indigo Bunting singing
[00:01:36] It's actually a mix of tall grasses and patches of small shrubs, small trees A black-throated green warbler in the distance My name is Rob and this is Songbirding
[00:02:46] Some distant thrushes Seem like hermit thrush to me Kind of doing some constant singing though Trail seems to go towards some of them, so Get to hear more hermit thrush These are hermit thrush Black-Hepticity, it's a call of hermit thrush
[00:06:41] Oh, there's an American robin here too And that pew-pew kind of thing Can hear some red-eyed biros in the background Oh wow, that was a little different
[00:08:28] Can take a little bit of wind I've got very much wind this week while I've been here Very lucky for me when it comes to recording Low wind is per-shard Or no wind at all Black-throated green warbler
[00:10:49] It's a talkative black-throated green warbler Chipping notes and singing Chipping notes and singing Probably agitated in some way I would assume that means Chipping notes and singing
[00:12:12] It's a very quick wee-de-wee-wee-ew It's a magnolia warbler Heard a common yellow-throat in the distance too, so You can get closer to that It's different habitats here It's gone from prairie to forest Kind of a little creek in the forest here Supposed to be beaver ponds
[00:12:56] And some other plains and prairies and stuff, so Should get a good mix here These are really loud Hermit thrush Must be really close Some blue jays as well This hermit thrush is going to be in the tree just above me here
[00:15:11] There's a chip coming from Chickadee, but there's something else too Okay Looking at a pair of black and white warblers here Broad-wing hawk There's a magnolia warbler There's black and white warblers left Some dark eyed juncos here A little bit of rattling Yeah, this wine call is the
[00:17:05] Broad-wing hawk Okay, just had some cyclists go by I had to stop the recording for a bit Broad-wing has probably moved on Or it's just stopped vocalizing Got common yellow throat Magnolia warbler Close to hermit thrush as well too
[00:17:54] Seem to be some young dark eyed juncos here I think Hermit thrush is getting louder again Gonna walk further now This trail's a mile and a half, so Gonna have to make sure I get moving So I can finish it
[00:18:45] Gonna have to make sure I don't stop for too long in places So I actually finished this in a reasonable amount of time There's black-thoroughed green warbler A few black-thoroughed green warblers That's one thing I've noticed is I have not heard out of any of these
[00:21:10] Warblers, the green ones Any of the third song That I'd heard in Brisk Peninsula So, yeah, curious I haven't got a lot of samples of course There's only been a few green warblers This can't come to any conclusions, but it's So far holding up that
[00:21:45] My theory that there may be a third song Developing in Brisk Peninsula Songbirding, the Allegheny National Forest Is a songbirding studio's production And was recorded, engineered, narrated And created by me, Rob Porter With cover art and logo design by Lauren Helton And Creative Commons Music from Chase & Shaw
